1. The important working surface or main working surface of the castings ofPump valve parts castings should be facing down or sideways, because the defects on the upper surface of the casting (such as sand holes, pores, slag inclusions, etc.) are usually more than the lower part, and the structure is not as dense as below. If these planes are difficult to face down, try to keep them on the side. When there are multiple important processing surfaces, the larger surface should be facing down, and the machining surface should be increased to ensure the quality of the casting.

2. The large plane of the casting should face down. This is because during the pouring process, the high-temperature liquid metal has strong heat radiation on the upper surface of the cavity, and sometimes the upper surface sand of the cavity is arched or cracked due to rapid thermal expansion, causing sand inclusion defects on the surface of the casting. It is obvious that the thicker the plane in the horizontal position, the easier the upper surface is to create sand. For this reason, for flat castings, the large plane should be facing down.

3. In order to prevent insufficient or cold insulation defects on the large-area thin-walled part of the valve casting, the thin-walled part of the large surface should be placed in the lower part of the mold or vertical and inclined as much as possible, which is especially important for alloys with poor fluidity.
