Advantages of centrifugal casting of copper alloy water pump castings

The copper alloy water pump casting adopts the centrifugal casting process, because the centrifugal force has an important influence on the solidification of the alloy liquid, so that the copper alloy water pump casting has fine crystal grains, relatively dense structure and obvious mechanical properties. The effect of the centrifugal force exacerbates the convection in the liquid alloy and brings the precipitated grains toward the outer wall of the casting, while the free surface collects the lighter alloy liquid, so that the solidification of the casting proceeds sequentially from the outer wall to the inner layer. Therefore, such copper alloy water pump castings generally do not have defects such as shrinkage and shrinkage.

The copper alloy water pump castings have a large effective weight and a large mobility in the centrifugal force field. It is possible to overcome the capillary resistance between the solidified grains and to compensate for the micro-contraction, so that a dense casting can be obtained. When the casting speed is high and the centrifugal force is large, the relative motion of the liquid alloy is small, so the grain refining effect is small. If the casting speed is appropriately lowered if possible, and the cooling rate is larger, it will be advantageous for grain refinement.

It can be seen from the above analysis that the crystal structure of the copper alloy water pump casting produced by the centrifugal casting process depends on the properties of the alloy and the rotation speed and cooling rate of the mold. Appropriate adjustment of the rotational speed and cooling rate can improve the crystal structure of the casting.
