Ball valve body casting machining process

In practical applications, the ball valve mainly uses the rotary valve to achieve the valve switch. Because the ball valve is light and compact and can be made into a large diameter, it has been widely used. As the main component, ball valve body casting plays a very important role in it. So, how is the ball valve body casting processed?

 

Next, we will briefly introduce the machining process of ball valve body castings. During the machining of the right valve body of the ball valve, the turning surface is usually adopted in view of the fact that the main machined surface of the right valve body is a rotating surface. Under normal circumstances, the production volume of the valve body below DN150 is relatively large, and all major processes are equipped with process equipment. However, the production of large-sized valve bodies is very small and can be used for scribe processing.

 

Then, during the process of machining, what are the structural features and technical requirements of the ball valve body castings? Most low-pressure ball valves and medium-pressure ball valves belong to the side-mounted ball valve. The valve chamber is composed of left and right valve bodies. In contrast, the left valve body has a simple structure and the right valve body is more complicated. The ball valve cavity contains a high-precision valve seat hole, and the side has a packing hole to install the valve stem.

 

When connecting, it is usually the right valve body and the left valve body of the small-size ball valve, or both the pipe connection point and the right valve body of the large and medium-sized ball valve are connected by flange bolts. For the ball valve body castings, the accuracy of the valve seat hole, the spigot and the packing hole is generally 6, and the finish is not less than 5. Other machined surfaces have an accuracy of 8 and a finish of 3. There is a requirement for coaxiality between the spigot and the seat hole. The degree of non-perpendicularity of the center-to-end face of the bolt hole on the flange does not exceed 1 degree.

 

For now, according to the different uses of ball valve body castings, the valve body can be divided into gray cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel or non-metallic materials. Except for some small-sized steel ball valve body castings using forgings, casting blanks are used in most cases.
